Geography Homework – due Monday 11/23

ALL ISS SECTIONS - Using your post card planning sheet, create the final product, a professional looking post card, on the 8×5 index card handed out in class.  Make sure that the name of your place doesn’t appear on the front or back of your post card. You may use images you find in magazines or online if you don’t feel confident in your ability to draw images.  Make the post card look as professional as possible!   DUE MONDAY 11/23 – we will be using the post cards in class on Monday, so it is imperitive that you have this done on time.  You will be turning in your planning sheet as well as the final product.

ISS Phase 3 – The absolute location practice sheet will be for extra credit.  It is due on Monday 11/23 as well.

Mental Mapping Homework Activity

Create two mental maps – one large scale and one small scale.  These are “mental” maps, which means you should be doing them from memory.  Do not use any visual aids.

  • Large scale map – draw a map of a location you are familiar with using as much detail of the surroundings as possible. Include important landmarks and labels.
  • Small scale map – draw a map of the world using major lines of latitude and longitude. Include major landmasses, bodies of water, and landforms.  You may also include country names & major cities

Be sure to title your maps. Use a key or legend to explain symbols on your map. Include a compass rose. Use color where appropriate.
